Bayside Lymphoedema clinics opened in the Melbourne suburbs of Brighton and Beaumaris in 1997. The practice has expanded to include Lymphoedema health professionals who have extensive knowledge and training. They maintain and deliver high standards by attending regular on going education programs.
Every person who attends one of our Bayside Lymphoedema Clinics is provided with an individual treatment and care plan by one of our experienced Lymphoedema Practitioners. The assessment and treatment plans ensure the best possible management and outcomes. This includes and is is not limited to Medical and Patient History, Physical Examination, Measurements, Compression recommendations.
A referral is not required to attend Bayside Lymphoedema clinics, however a letter from a health care practitioner is beneficial to provide the Lymphoedema Practitioner with a background into a patient’s medical history. An online health form is required to be completed by the patient (where possible) prior to attendance at Bayside Lymphoedema.
Preoperative Lymphoedema assessment provides patients with a baseline for any changes in size relating to the affected area(s), following Cancer related or other Surgical procedures, Chemotherapy and or Radiotherapy.
Complete Diagnostic therapy (CDT) incorporates a comprehensive management system to control/treat Lymphoedema, Axillary Web syndrome, Cording, Lipoedema, Vascular and related symptoms. This may include the use of the following methods:
- Preoperative Massage
- Manual Lymph Drainage
- Limb Volume Measurements
- Breast Lymphoedema/Swelling
- Skin Care
- Scar Tissue
- Low Level Laser
- Compression bandaging
- Measurements for and Fitting of Compression Garments

Laser and Needle Acupuncture can also be provided by Maree, Registered Acupuncturist to aid with symptoms which include but are not restricted to:

Maree, Registered Nurse, Division 1 and Level 2 Lymphoedema Practitioner established Bayside Lymphoedema in 1997 in the Melbourne suburbs of Brighton and Beaumaris. The practice has now expanded to include other trained and experienced Lymphoedema health professionals. Maree’s extensive training and experience in all facets of Lymphoedema –from Primary to Secondary, Lipoedema and Mixed Lymphoedema –enables her to attain the highest standard of care with patients.
Prior to opening Bayside Lymphoedema in 1997, Maree graduated from Mercy Private Hospital as a Registered Nurse, Division 1. She furthered her career at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute in Oncology Nursing which included Radiology and Domicillary Pathology.
Moving forward, Maree expanded her horizons at the Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital where she specialised in Eye, Ear Nose and Throat nursing. She worked for 10 years as a Charge Nurse and Clinical Educator in the Operating Theatres and Day Surgery Facility -it was here that she also developed an interest in the management of Head and Neck Oncology. As Laser safety Officer, Maree implemented Standards for all Class 4 Surgical Lasers in the Operating Suites, Day Surgery and the Outpatient Department.
Maree graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma in Acupuncture, Melbourne and opened the About Acupuncture clinics in 1994. Where applicable, Maree incorporates low level laser Acupuncture in her treatment plans. She also completed the Level 1 and Level 2 Lymphoedema courses in Melbourne.
